### Crypto.com founder Kris Marsazlek is facing a storm of FUD, and a falling native token, CRO. Crypto users are having a difficult time determining whether FUD is driving the price down or if the falling price is truly an indicator of a problem. His past is not free from controversy, including his prior employment as CEO of Ensogo.

The recent bankruptcy of FTX has the crypto community on edge and worried about which exchange will fall next. Twitter is rife with speculation that crypto.com will be the next to fall. 

One main driving force behind the speculation is fallling price of crypto.com’s native token: CRO.

Another driving force behind the dip is a recent “accidental” transfer of crypto.com of 320,000 ETH to another exchange gate.io. The transaction was widely tweeted about in the past few days and were causing people to worry.

Now that the storm of FUD for crypto.com is somewhat calming down, we want to call attention to the personality behind crypto.com. Kris Marsazlek is well known for having purchased the naming rights to the Staples Center for $700 Million. At the time he secured such a magnificent trophy, he was already among a small circle of highly regarded crypto successes. But his past is not free from controversy. 

Marsazlek is also known for his past employment as the CEO of Ensogo - a publicly traded, Australia based company. Ensogo’s business model was to offer online coupon discounts for retail goods and services, similar to Klook or Groupon. Ensogo became infamous for abruplty stopping operations in Southeast Asia in June 2016, which happened at the same time Marsazlek resigned. 

The sudden closure of Ensogo left a lot of customers and partner merchants with losses. The worst part was that Ensogo had engaged in heavy sales promotions right before the sudden closure, as if they were making a final push to raise cash even though they were going to close. 

After the closure, the deals merchants paid for and the coupons in the hands of customers were worthless. There were other questionable moves by Ensogo. A few months before the closure, Ensogo was hyping up their plan to take their marketplace app global. 

In the Ensogo fiasco, it’s not clear if Marsazlek was executing a nefarious plan or if he messed up badly, but in good faith. In the end, the concern is that a lot of regular people were left worse than empty handed -this is a future that customers of crypto.com would definitely want to avoid. 

Regardless of which exchange is being used, it is never a good idea to leave substantial sums of money on an exchange. If there is one lesson to be learned from the recent FTX collapse and CRO FUD, it’s that large amounts of crypto should be self-custodied.
