### El Salvador was initially heavily criticized for taking on debt to purchase bitcoin. President Nayib Bukele had some words as El Salvador paid a hefty $800M with interest.

Nayib Bukele was a bit salty with mainstream media, and quite understandably so as his moves to purchase bitcoin came under immense media fire when he started it. 

Since then, the predicted 'default' never happened. Instead, El Salvador is able to keep moving forward in its bold plan to be an early adopter among nation states. 

Nayib Bukele tweeted: "Yesterday, El Salvador demonstrated that the big media, the “experts”, the financial analysts and the credit rating agencies, shamelessly lie to the people, their audiences and their clients."
