### Michael Saylor remains resolute in his conviction that bitcoin is the future. Through his company, he purchased an additional 2,395 bitcoins between Nov. 1 and Dec. 21, 2022. 

For a second there, even a few bitcoin stalwarts were wondering if tbhey should worry as Michael Saylor appeared to be selling some bitcoin. To save on taxes, the company holding the bitcoin (MacroStrategy, a subsidiary of Saylor’s MicroStrategy) sold 704 bitcoins on Dec. 22, 2022 to offset capital gains.  After that, Saylor actually bought more. 

MacroStrategy eventually purchased another 810 bitcoins. In sum, MacroStrategy’s BTC position increased by 2,501 bitcoins. Saylor’s MicroStrategy group now owns a total of 132,500 bitcoins! 

The selling of bitcoins by Michael Saylor caused some concern in the crypto community because he vowed he would not sell and would HODL long term. As It turned out, the selling was purely to minimize the tax impact of holding bitcoins. All in all, Saylor purchased more than he sold.

Michael Saylor’s conviction in the middle of this crypto winter is an inspiration to many hodlers and cost-averaging investors. If he is right, those that follow his path stand to gain a lot along with him. 

Notably, Saylor is a bitcoin maximalist. Earlier this year, many questioned his hard line approach on altcoins; but, presently, bitcoin maximalists have been doing quite well (relative to altcoins), as the drop in BTC price is much less than the catastrophic drops in altcoin prices. 

In this season (a long crypto winter), it’s said that many bitcoin maximalists are born. Saylor says there is no second coin, there is only bitcoin. He puts his money where his mouth is.
