PayPal UK is now [registered](https://register.fca.org.uk/s/search?predefined=CA) as a crypto service provider, according to the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). It entered the registry last Tuesday.

In the UK, companies that provide crypto services are required to register and adhere to anti-money laundering rules. 

Registration allows PayPal UK to engage in crypto asset activities, including advertising its services. 

However, it is subject to certain restrictions. Only existing customers will be able to hold or sell tokens. Users still won’t be able to buy them. 

In August, PayPal paused crypto purchases in the UK until 2024 to comply with FCA rules.  

PayPal UK is also prohibited from offering peer-to-peer transactions, staking services, and crypto asset lending and borrowing. 

PayPal UK’s registration comes after the UK announced its plans to [legislate](https://www.cryptoflash.report/articles/U.K.%20Government%20Plans%20Formal%20Legislation%20to%20Regulate%20Crypto) crypto asset activities in the country. 

It is subject to a lot of restrictions.
