### Sam Bankman-Fried admits he donated to both the Democratic and Republican parties. 

Sam Bankman-Fried, founder and ex-CEO of FTX, said he donated to both the Democratic and Republican parties before his company’s collapse. This disclosure was made on Tiffany Fong’s YouTube channel where she posted phone calls with Bankman-Fried from November 16 and 20.



Bankman-Fried also revealed that the donations he made to Republicans were dark, meaning they were not publicly disclosed. According to him, “The reason was not for regulatory reasons, it’s because reporters freak the f*ck out if you donate to Republicans. They’re all super liberal, and I didn’t want to have that fight.”



These revelations come just as Senate hearings on the collapse of FTX are about to begin. With Bankman-Fried being the second-largest donor to Democrats in the last elections, Republicans have been vocal with their criticism of the rival party. 



In a tweet last month, Republican senator Ted Cruz said, “will Joe Biden and Democrats who cashed Bankman-Fried’s checks give that money to the people SBF screwed?”



However, information from OpenSecrets, a non-profit organization that tracks campaign finance and lobbying, indicates that FTX US gave an equal amount to Republicans as it did to Democrats.



Bankman-Fried, in the posted audio recording, said, “I donated to both parties. I donated about the same amount to both parties.”
