### Tom Brady, Steph Curry, Naomi Osaka and Shohei Ohtani will be severely affected by the bankruptcy as they all invested equity into FTX.

FTX was a huge spender and was able to attract investments from well known sports figures. FTX even obtained the naming rights to the former American Airlines Arena in Miami Dade County (home of the Miami Heat). By now, the FTX name has been taken [down](https://www.cryptoflash.report/articles/ftx-name-comingdown-from-miami-heat-home-arena). 

Tom Brady went into FTX together with his ex-wife Gisele Bundchen and announced long term partnerships with [FTX on June 29, 2021](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/ftx-tom-brady--gisele-bundchen-announce-long-term-partnership-301321814.html). 

Steph Curry also signed a deal with FTX, around September 2021, that included [equity](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-11413079/Curry-Osaka-join-Brady-athletes-toldFTX-investments-WORTHLESS.html). 

Steph Curry said that he is “excited to partner with a company that demystifies the crypto space and eliminates the intimidation factor for first-time users.” 

Osaka signed a deal with FTX, around March 2022, which also includes equity. 

On November 11, 2022, the FTX group of companies released a press release confirming that bankruptcy protection was filed for FTX (International), FTX (US), Alameda Research and 130 related companies.

All investors into FTX will be severely affected. Typically, equity investors are only paid if there are any assets left after payment of debts and other obligations. There is a chance that the investments of these athletes will go to zero.
