Plans to circulate the USDC token in Japan are underway as Circle Internet Financial Ltd partners with SBI Holdings Inc. 

According to SBI Holdings’ Chief Executive Officer, Yoshitaka Kitao, Japan is “steadily preparing the groundwork for the full-scale introduction of stablecoins.” 

Japan is one of the first countries to pass a stablecoin law. In June, the country’s Payment Services Act was revised to establish regulations for stablecoins. 

Aside from this, Japan-based venture capital group SBI Holdings will also promote Circle’s web3 services in the country. In a [statement](https://www.sbigroup.co.jp/english/news/pdf/2023/1127_a_en.pdf), the SBI Group announced that it will adopt Circle’s web3 services, including the Programmable Wallet, blockchain infrastructure, and smart contract management tools. 

It will be in partnership with Japan’s SBI Holdings.
