### Satoshi Nakamoto provided a solution to solve money problems. BTC was created after a financial crisis. It was a solution for regular people to not get screwed over by their government and corrupt corporate interests. Now, the crypto industry was flooded with money and in its attempt to innovate on the BTC concept, has unwittingly (or wittingly) somehow opened the doors wide for all the financial problems to enter and pollute the space.

We’ve heard a crypto analyst (and rocket scientist), Ben Cowen (@intothecryptoverse on YouTube) say that a crypto bear market mints a lot of BTC Maximalists. And, being in the middle of this nasty crypto melt down, we understand why Ben said that. 

From our perspective (we try to be open minded towards all crypto projects), the BTC maximalists look enviable right now. Sure, BTC is price is dumping too but mostly out of FUD. But, there’s nothing wrong with the BTC protocol. There’s no hidden leverage or shady behavior lurking in the shadows. There’s no fraud committed by the protocol. In fact, BTC looks so good now, we’re buying as much as we can through cost averaging. It’s the best token, at wonderful prices. 

When we look at our portfolios, BTC feels like a warm fuzzy blanket and a bullet proof vest all rolled into one. The price might fall, but we know the ecosystem will soldier on. 

It’s easy to blame the people like SBF or Do Kwon, but those of us who bought in to their ecosystems are not entirely free of blame either. As token purchasers, we need to remember that our purchase is a vote. Our purchase enables the project (whether honest or corrupt) to accomplish their plans. Our actions also help open (or close) the doors to the corruption that wants to enter the crypto space. 

For every BTC maximalist there is, there is one less potential investor into doomed projects like LUNA or FTT. We’re not setting out to blame crypto retail and we are not setting out to convince anyone to be a maximalist. However, BTC is a powerful tool that we think is underutilized by crypto retail. We are trying to raise awareness for two main things: 

1. For BTC:it’s time for us to learn from the maximalists. We don’t need to be a maximalist but be sure to get off zero! Every portfolio must have BTC in it. Altcoins are exciting but we need a good foundation for any crypto journey. Foundation doesn’t need to be exciting, it needs to be strong and reliable. For crypto, we are safe with an incorruptible protocol. Bitcoin is the closest to being incorruptible. Bitcoin belongs in every portfolio. 

2. For altcoins: your purchase is a vote. Let’s keep it real. Greed is what causes big projects to fail and hurt others in the process. But, greed is also what causes us (retail investors) to enable the corrupt. Nobody forced anyone to buy LUNA or FTT. These were voluntary (but misinformed) choices. Don’t give in to greed but use your purchases to vote for transparent and sustainable projects. DYOR - Do you own research! Forget FOMO, read, read and read. 99% of altcoins are trash. Remember that. Be suspicious of all projects and don’t let people use your money to wreck crypto.  

For us, we believe in holding BTC that is equivalent to at least 50%, and ETH that is equivalent to 25% of any portfolio.
