Elon Musk ended the widespread rumors on X that he will launch a crypto token on the platform formerly known as Twitter. Rumors of such a token ran rampant within the crypto community for weeks. 

On August 5, user @cb-doge, a pro-Dogecoin account, posted that Elon Musk and X have not launched a crypto token. In response, Musk said, “And we never will.”

Dogecoin and Musk have a history, with Musk declaring his support for the meme coin and calling himself “DogeFather.”In 2021, Doge developers said they were working with Musk to create an alternative to Bitcoin.

Dogecoin rallied in response to Musk’s announcement, climbing 5.5% on Saturday.
