Stablecoin provider Tether restricted 41 wallets connected to individuals on the Specially Designated Nationals List by the Office of Foreign Assets Control. This is in line with its “proactive steps” to align with U.S. policies on sanctions.

In a [blog post](https://tether.to/en/tether-introduces-new-policy-to-strengthen-ecosystem-security/), Tether referenced a voluntary wallet-freezing initiative it introduced on Dec. 1. It has since expanded its policy to offer sanction controls on the secondary market. It said, “The primary objective behind this approach is to proactively prevent any potential misuse of Tether tokens and enhance security measures.”

One of the affected frozen wallets is linked to the $225 million Ronin Bridge hack, which, according to the U.S. Treasury Department is by the Lazarus Group, a North Korean group.

It now has sanctions support on secondary markets.
