One sign that crypto is continuing its journey to become mainstream is that traditional media is reporting more and more on crypto. Reuters reported on another fairly large business in South Africa that has been working on accepting crypto and will soon officially do so.   


The cryptoverse is constantly welcoming new companies that accept bitcoin/crypto as payments. One of the latest ones to grace not just crypto media but also traditional media is a grocery in South Africa called Pick n Pay.    





Reuters reported the news in this article:    





“One of South Africa's largest grocery retailers Pick n Pay (PIKJ.J) is expanding a pilot of adding cryptocurrency as a payment option to more stores after the successful completion of the first phase, it said on Tuesday. The announcement came weeks after the Financial Sector Conduct Authority formally declared crypto assets as a financial product in South Africa, enabling them to be regulated and clearing the way for cryptocurrency to be a mainstream method of payment.”    





Pick n Pay is by no means a trailblazer anymore, it adds itself to a long list of companies already accepting bitcoin or some form of crypto for payments.

But, going back to mainstream media, CNBC reported about a month ago that Google will start allowing a “subset” of customers to pay for cloud services with digital currencies early next year. “Google said Tuesday that it will rely on Coinbase to start letting some customers pay for cloud services with cryptocurrencies early in 2023, while Coinbase said it would draw on Google’s cloud infrastructure.”
