### Former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried is making a strong push to have ten out of the thirteen criminal charges levied against him dropped. Bankman-Fried's legal representatives assert that the accusations were a result of hasty judgment by lawmakers, rather than allowing the standard civil and regulatory processes to run their course.

Bankman-Fried's legal team filed a motion to dismiss on May 8th alleging that the government improperly sought to turn civil and regulatory issues into federal crimes, rather than waiting for traditional civil and regulatory processes to follow their ordinary course to address the situation. They say the government overreacted and that the accusations should be dropped because of it.



The former CEO was arrested in the Bahamas in December 2022 and charged with a total of thirteen criminal offenses. These charges primarily revolve around allegations of customer fraud and bank fraud, which allegedly contributed to the collapse of the FTX exchange.



A dismissal hearing is scheduled for June 15, with prosecutors having until May 29 to respond to the motion to dismiss. The outcome of this hearing will be crucial in determining Bankman-Fried's legal standing and the trajectory of the case.
