### Market makers and investors anticipate another increase in interest rates due to the Fed's recent hawkish stance; however, this increase may be relatively small compared to the huge rate hikes made in 2022.

Following its Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on January 31–February 1, the Federal Reserve is expected to increase interest rates. Investors are closely monitoring the crucial information that will be disclosed at a press conference held by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell on Wednesday at 2:30 PM ET. The central bank's future rate hike plans will also be the main topic of discussion at the conference. 


According to the findings of the survey conducted by CME Group, a total of 98.4% of people believe that Federal Reserve Chair Powell will only raise interest rates by 0.25%.  This would be a very positive development for the markets such as cryptocurrencies and US equities relative to the rate hikes of 2022. The optimistic sentiment may be tied to inflation numbers trending downward over the past three months. These figures may be tied to China increasing in its manufacturing to ease supply chain concerns. The lower cost of energy has also been decreasing recently, which may ripple outward as operational costs scale downward.

However, due to the possibility that the Fed Chair may take a hawkish stance in the upcoming meeting, the 0.25% basis point increase cannot be guaranteed. On the other hand, the Fed is beginning to slow down its pace, and most market observers think that the Fed will stop and take a pause sometime in the middle of this year. Some even suspect the pendulum will have to swing the other way later this year or early in 2024, at which point the FED will shift to cutting interest rates to fuel positive economic growth.

Traders may wish  to tread carefully between January 31 to February 1, due to the potential volatility of market conditions and an unpredictable FOMC meeting outcome.
