### Banco do Brasil have been exploring the use of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies as part of their efforts to offer more modern and efficient financial services and to be a leading force in financial solutions.

Brazilian financial institutions and companies are increasingly exploring and investing in crypto-related technologies and services. The country also has a relatively large and active cryptocurrency community, with some estimates suggesting that Brazil is one of the top countries for cryptocurrency adoption in Latin America. 



Brazil’s oldest bank, Banco do Brasil, is now allowing citizens to pay their tax bills using cryptocurrencies. The initiative is done in collaboration with Brazilian-based crypto firm Bifty.



The state-owned Brazilian financial institution offers commercial banking, investment banking, asset management, insurance, and pension programs. One of Brazil's and Latin America's largest banks, it was founded in 1808 and  helps support Brazil's economy and social and economic development as a state-owned bank.



Its collection partner, Bitfy, is a Brazilian fintech company that provides a cryptocurrency wallet and payment solution. The company was founded in 2018 and has since become one of the leading crypto wallets in Brazil. It has received funding from notable investors and has also partnered with major banks and financial institutions in the country.

Brazilians who own cryptocurrencies through Bitfy can now quickly and simply pay their taxes, fees, and other responsibilities by using their assets thanks to this partnership. Taxpayers merely need to choose their preferred cryptocurrency for payment via the Bitfy app, scan a barcode, and then confirm payment.


The Brazilian bank is embracing innovative technologies and expanding its payment options for citizens. Allowing citizens to pay taxes using crypto can be a modernization of a bank's financial solution. Cryptocurrency payments can offer certain benefits such as faster transactions, reduced transaction fees, and increased security. However, the effectiveness of these benefits can depend on the specific implementation and infrastructure used by the bank and its official collection partner.
