### In light of the increasing frequency of cryptomining attacks, enterprises may now use Google Cloud's sophisticated detection capabilities and robust protection to reinforce their cloud environments and preserve computing resources. 

Cryptojacking, also known as malicious cryptomining, is a form of cyber attack where unauthorized individuals or groups hijack victims' computing resources, such as computers, smartphones, or even cloud servers, to mine cryptocurrencies without their consent. 



The attackers achieve this by injecting mining malware into the victim's system, which allows them to harness the processing power and electricity to solve complex mathematical problems required for cryptocurrency mining. As a result, the attackers can generate cryptocurrency for their own financial gain while the victims bear the burden of decreased system performance, increased energy consumption, and potential security risks.



These attacks pose a significant concern for organizations globally, as cybercriminals exploit compromised computing resources to mine cryptocurrencies covertly. To address this issue, Google Cloud has integrated the Cryptomining Protection Program into its Security Command Center Premium, a comprehensive security and risk-management platform.

Google Cloud offers up to $1 million in coverage for unauthorized compute expenses resulting from undetected cryptomining attacks to subscribers of Security Command Center Premium. Should the premium service fail to detect an ongoing attack, affected customers can request credits within 30 days to cover unauthorized Compute Engine costs.



While Google is responsible for the detection and notification of the vulnerability, customers are required to apply remediation actions as quickly as possible in order to reduce the impact of the attack and stop any further exploitation.
