### During a recent committee meeting held in Niigata, Japan, the G7 nations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Italy, France, and Japan, explored the potential of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) as a means to revolutionize the global financial system.

Recognizing the transformative power of technological advancements, the committee highlighted CBDCs as a mechanism to enhance payment efficiency and promote financial inclusion. While acknowledging both the advantages and disadvantages of central bank-issued virtual assets, the committee stressed the importance of a trustworthy and open payment system to support economic activities.



In line with their commitment to fostering global cooperation, the G7 endorsed the "CBDC Handbook" released by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The handbook offers comprehensive guidance for countries on how to adopt CBDCs, taking into account the diverse economic and regulatory landscapes worldwide. The aim is to establish a common framework and build a global consensus on the adoption of CBDCs.



While recognizing the potential benefits of CBDCs, the G7 also underscored the need to address vulnerabilities to ensure the robustness, stability, and integrity of financial and monetary systems. Cyber-attacks and data breaches were specifically highlighted as potential hazards that require thorough risk assessments and adequate protections.
