### HSBC Hong Kong has recently made a significant move in the cryptocurrency space by launching support for Bitcoin and Ethereum futures Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) on its "Easy Invest" mobile app. This development is expected to broaden access to digital asset derivatives in the emerging Asia crypto hub.

The CSOP Bitcoin Futures ETF, the CSOP Ethereum Futures ETF, and the Samsung Bitcoin Futures Active ETF are the newest additions to the global pool of exchange-traded funds. While this news may seem groundbreaking, It is worth mentioning that since December, when these crypto investment products were first listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, HSBC customers in Hong Kong have had access to trading them.



Nevertheless, the addition of these ETFs to HSBC's investment platform is significant as it allows customers regulated access to derivatives without resorting to unregulated exchanges. This move aligns with Hong Kong's growing acceptance and openness to the cryptocurrency industry.



The CSOP Bitcoin Futures ETF and CSOP Ethereum Futures ETF track the performance of digital asset futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), providing investors with a transparent way to participate in the crypto market. Earlier this year, Samsung Asset Management Hong Kong introduced the Samsung Bitcoin Futures Active ETF, which, like the Bitcoin Futures ETF, invests in CME futures.



HSBC aims to cater to the demand for derivatives, particularly among retail investors who find ETFs more accessible due to their simplicity and convenience compared to other complex derivatives like options. This move could also encourage other financial institutions to follow suit, ultimately contributing to the continued growth of the cryptocurrency market.
