### FTX has soured the general public’s view on Crypto but this heavyweight investment personality is not bothered. Billionaire investor Larry Fink is one of those that remains extremely bullish on crypto, particularly DeFi. He foresees a future where tokenized assets are traded on decentralized protocols. 

The “whole foundation” of crypto is the distributed ledger. Mr. Fink pointed out at the NYTimes DealBook Summit what he believes is FTX’s mistake. It was, in Mr. Fink’s opinion, when FTX made its own token called FTT. The token was a corrupted version of a distributed ledger because it wasn’t distributed (it was centralized). 

Mr. Fink seems to imply that FTX’s model was doomed to fail from the beginning. On the other hand, decentralized Finance, in Mr. Fink’s opinion is unaffected and will be here to stay. Mr. Fink believes that DeFi will see massive growth through tokenization of securities. 

He believes that instantaneous settlement will bring a tremendous transformation just for the simple reason that there will no middleman, and much lower transaction costs. 

We love Mr. Fink’s analysis because of its simplicity. The future of DeFi is really difficult to predict with certainty, but Mr. Fink is someone who has his ear to the ground and feels the pulse of the investment community. 

If he believes that there is a good chance that DeFi will be home to a future of tokenized assets, we think it is worthwhile to at least be aware of his theory. For a short period of time Binance offered tokenized securities but quickly removed these products after regulatory backlash a few years ago. 

Compared to securities, crypto’s market capitalization is smaller than a drop in a bucket. If tokenized securities find a home in decentralized protocols, the growth potential of the protocol that holds the tokenized securities is tremendous.
