### FTX, a defunct cryptocurrency exchange, has recently made headlines by filing a $220 million lawsuit against its founder, Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), and other former executives. The lawsuit stems from the purchase of Embed, a stock clearing platform, and alleges that no proper due diligence was conducted before the deal was finalized.

According to the legal complaint filed on May 17, it is claimed that SBF, along with executives Nishad Singh and Gary Wang, were aware of Alameda Research's bankruptcy status but proceeded with the acquisition regardless. The lawsuit further asserts that they intentionally inflated the valuation of the stock clearing platform shortly before FTX's collapse.



The primary objective of this legal action is to recoup the funds lost as a result of what the liquidators of FTX deem an unfavorable transaction. The allegations suggest that SBF and the other executives were negligent in their decision-making, causing substantial financial harm to the exchange.



To provide context, FTX acquired Embed in June 2022 with the intention of expanding its equity trading infrastructure. Embed provides broker-dealers and registered investment advisors with white-label brokerage services as well as application programming interfaces (APIs).



As this lawsuit unfolds, the cryptocurrency and financial industries will closely monitor the outcome, as it carries implications for due diligence practices and executive accountability in high-stakes acquisitions.
