### A staff member of the SEC has publicly accused Binance.US, a cryptocurrency exchange situated in the United States, of operating an unregistered securities exchange in the nation.

Just recently, the SEC raised objections to Binance.US' $1 billion acquisition deal with Voyager. The SEC has since launched an investigation to determine whether Binance.US, Voyager, and related companies have violated federal securities laws.



A spokesperson for Binance.US expressed disappointment with the claims made by the SEC employee. The representative stated that it was regrettable that a US SEC employee would make such an accusation without providing any specifics on the assets that are considered securities.



The spokesperson went on to say that Binance is committed to engaging in constructive dialogue with regulators and supporting a comprehensive regulatory framework drafted and passed by Congress to ensure innovation in the US.



This development comes amid increased regulatory scrutiny of the cryptocurrency industry, primarily in the United States. Regulators are grappling with how to regulate this emerging asset class, which has grown in popularity and value in recent years. While some of the members of the congress have embraced cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, government agencies such as the SEC have been stifling innovation through regulation by enforcement.
