### Soros Fund Management has increased its stakes in Marathon Digital, MicroStrategy, and Silvergate Bank, according to a 13F filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on December 31st.



George Soros is known for his investment strategies, particularly in currency trading and well known in the financial industry, particularly as the founder and chairman of Soros Fund Management LLC, a hedge fund that he established in 1969. The fund is one of the most successful hedge funds in history, and has generated enormous returns for its investors.



The billionaire investor has not been particularly vocal about his stance on cryptocurrencies, and it is not entirely clear what his views are on the subject. However, he has made some comments in the past that suggest he is skeptical about the long-term potential of the asset class.



In January 2018, Soros described cryptocurrencies as a "typical bubble" during an interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos. He also suggested that the high volatility of cryptocurrencies makes them unsuitable as a store of value or medium of exchange.



Additionally, in 2021, it was reported that Soros Fund Management had started purchasing Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, which could suggest a more positive stance towards the asset class. However, the fund's investment in cryptocurrencies is relatively small compared to its overall portfolio, and it is possible that the investment is more of a short-term speculation rather than a long-term endorsement of the technology.


 


In 2021, Dawn Fitzpatrick, CEO and chief investment officer of Soros Fund Management, said in an interview at Bloomberg that the wealth management firm owns “some coins … but not a lot.”
