Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) appeared live at the New York Times DealBook Summit, where Andrew Sorkin explored SBF's involvement in the global collapse of FTX and Alameda Research.

Supposedly against the advice of his own lawyers, SBF spoke at the DealBook Summit:

SBF at one point claimed that FTX US was solvent:

During the interview, SBF also claimed that he was effectively shut out of the FTX system. This claim therefore begs the question, if SBF no longer has access to accurate information, and FTX US is included in the bankruptcy filing, why is he still insisting that FTX US can make customers whole? When asked if he agrees that he lied in the past, SBF responded that he [does not know of times when he lied](https://www.nytimes.com/live/2022/11/30/business/sam-bankman-fried-interview/7cb7ce0c-6fe6-5e41-b0fb-8a2abae2af24?smid=url-share). 

Meanwhile, Stephen Gandel on the New York Times site has expressed the view that SBF plans to [shift the blame to customers](https://www.nytimes.com/live/2022/11/30/business/sam-bankman-fried-interview/5a87bb17-56e6-5f61-8017-80fa6b89162d?smid=url-share), instead of bearing responsibility for his actions.

Whether SBF sees reality as it is or not, the consequences of his actions are as real and as harsh as ever: thousands of FTX customers across the globe face a cold Christmas and a dire future because of Sam Bankman-Fried.
